PUBLIC ART: PORT KEMBLA SEA WALL

A seawall designed to protect Sydney Water's stormwater plant at the southern end of Fishermans Beach at Red Point features the work of Coomaditchie Artists. Sydney Water worked with Coomaditchie artists to tell local Aboriginal stories of whale migration, Hill 60, fishing and the industrialisation of the region.

PUBLIC ART

"The presence of Aboriginal art in public spaces builds appreciation of Aboriginal culture and heritage in the place where it is installed, helping to keep East Coast Aboriginal culture alive. It creates a different layer of meaning for non-Aboriginal people, educating them about the Aboriginal significance of an area in an exciting and challenging way."
